Cuba gives the green light to the undetermined use of land by legal persons
The Council of State of Cuba approved the granting of state land to legal persons for an indefinite period, establishing that this right may be granted to "free or onerous title".
The Council of State approved Decree-Law 130, published in Official Gazette No. 74 of 2026, which extends the usufruct for legal persons to 99 years and repeals successor sanctions for émigrés.
The Council of State approved Decree-Law 130/2026, amending Law 59 “Civil Code” of 16 July 1987, with the aim of updating the regulations related to usufruct and surface rights, in line with the economic and social transformations approved in the country.
