Cuba will allow the direct hiring of employees and give more autonomy to foreign companies as it tries to attract capital amid an economic crisis.
Cuba published in the Official Gazette new rules to promote economic and social transformations related to foreign investment, foreign trade and tourism, including measures such as greater flexibility in hiring staff and opening foreign bank accounts for foreign investors.
In the area of foreign investment, Decree-Law No. 128, amending Law No. 118 on Foreign Investment, eliminates the obligation to hire workers through employing entities.
New legal norms published today in the Official Gazette No.73 that implement economic and social transformations in foreign investment, foreign trade and tourism will allow greater stability and opportunities to boost the country's development, Cuban authorities reported at a press conference.
