Officials say more than 500 homes and other structures have been damaged or destroyed as wildfires continue to spread across the province.
- More than 500 homes or other structures have been destroyed or damaged by wildfires in British Columbia this year, marking devastation comparable to some of the worst recent fire seasons.
- THE BRADLEY COMPLEX destroyed about 230 homes on Okanagan Indian Band land on August 1, while the out-of-control Bald Range fire damaged or destroyed about 150 properties near Summerland and Faulder.
- Outside Clinton, THE BIG BAR COMPLEX The Thompson-Nicola Regional District destroyed structures on about 120 properties; the BRUNSWICK COMPLEX The Fraser Valley Regional District near Boston Bar destroyed seven structures.
- An 80-year-old woman died while evacuating near Meadow Valley, marking the only known fatality; by comparison, 600 structures were destroyed in 2023 and 509 in 2017.
- Across British Columbia, more than 1,000 fires have burned 4,300 square kilometres this year, with structural losses mounting despite total area burned remaining lower than 2023.
