REPORT - The campsites, tourist residences, holiday villages and leisure parks of the seaside resort have been emptied in a few hours Tuesday 28 July. For the time being, the conditions are not met for a total evacuation, says the mayor.
The concern is strong in Lacanau, Gironde, due to the megafire. An evacuation of all the campgrounds in the city was ordered on Tuesday 28 July. Large firewalls were built. - "The goal is to deprive the fire of any fuel": the campsites of Lacanau evacuated, firewalls set up to protect the city (Environment).
This is due to "their vulnerable construction," it is stated.
4,000 holidaymakers are being evacuated throughout the municipality of Lacanau on Tuesday 28 July. This measure was taken "in anticipation of an unfavourable weather phenomenon" according to Gironde prefecture.
Around 4,000 tourists are being evacuated from the Lacanau resort area in southwestern France due to forest fires.
