The European Commission acknowledges the seriousness of the concerns over asbestos pollution in Hungary, the head of the body's Directorate-General for Environment, Laurie Kazan-Allent, informed the coordinator of the international organization calling for a ban on asbestos. The letter was sent to MTI by activist Dániel Holdosi from Szombathely on Thursday.

While Brussels is already acknowledging the severity of asbestos pollution in Hungary, Péter Magyar and his government are silent, and the most recent EU position paper only reached the public through environmental activists.
