Samsung Electronics has opened the Advanced Package Lab, a research base for advanced semiconductor packaging, in Yokohama, Japan, and decided to invest 40 billion yen over five years. The company plans to accelerate the development of semiconductors for AI and high-performance computing by combining Japan's materials and equipment technology capabilities.
South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics has launched the Samsung Advanced Package Lab in Yokohama to develop packaging solutions for artificial intelligence chips. More than half of the 40 billion yen budget for the project is supported by Japanese authorities, and the new infrastructure aims to shorten development processes and increase market competitiveness.
