Man charged with murder after Norfolk GP found dead
CPS prosecutors said the case followed a police investigation, and the defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a court appearance.
On Sunday, Dr. Hannah Cain—professionally known as Dr. Hannah Terry—was murdered at her home in Dersingham near the Sandringham Estate; Grimston Medical Centre remains closed for a second day as investigations continue.
Cain, a qualified doctor for more than 15 years and a GP for 8, described herself as a "caring and professional doctor" while maintaining her medical practice alongside running Norfolk Sky Aesthetics.
Police arrested Mark Cain on suspicion of murder following discovery of the body at her Fern Hill home; officers subsequently applied to Great Yarmouth Magistrates for a warrant allowing an additional 32 hours to question him.
The Crown Prosecution Service decided to prosecute Mark Cain for murder following the investigation, while the medical centre apologized, stating, "We apologise for the disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding."
Mark Cain is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on October 7 after being remanded in custody; patients with appointments will be contacted about alternative arrangements as soon as possible.
Dr. Hannah Terry, a 45-year-old general practitioner who has been medically caring for Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family in Sandringham, has been found dead in her home in Norfolk, England.
A general practitioner in England looks "stressed" and "distracted." Shortly after, she is dead. Now, the police are investigating the murder of the triple mother. Her husband comes to see a judge today.
