GP found dead at home near Sandringham ‘after hosting sleepover’
Detectives have 32 hours of extra detention time as they question a man arrested after the GP’s death.
- On Sunday, October 4, 2026, police were called to a £800,000 home in Dersingham shortly after 2.20am, where a GP in her 40s was pronounced dead. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to Lynn Police Investigation Centre.
- Dr Hannah Terry, known locally as Hannah Cain, was a qualified doctor of 15 years who owned Norfolk Sky Aesthetics. The mother-of-three was hosting a children's sleepover at her Fern Hill home when the incident occurred.
- Officers applied to Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court for a warrant of further detention to extend questioning. The warrant grants investigators an additional 32 hours to interrogate the suspect regarding the death.
- Grimston Medical Centre temporarily closed on Monday due to what the practice called "extremely difficult circumstances" affecting the team. Tributes described Terry as "a lovely human being with three gorgeous young children."
- A police cordon remains in place at the property while detectives continue to scour the scene for evidence. Officers ensured the safety of the children present, transferring them to their families after the incident.
