Ukraine's Russian-occupied Zaporizhia nuclear power plant has been reconnected to the grid after nearly three weeks of running on dwindling diesel fuel, the United Nations (UN) nuclear agency said.
Ukrainian power engineers have managed to connect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to an external power source by connecting it to the power grid, Ukrainian company Enerhoatom said, as did International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency described the restoration of energy as "a crucial step" to prevent a nuclear accident, the UN agency reported.

The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, thanked Russia and Ukraine for the agreement on a local ceasefire, which restored the transmission line to the Zaporozh nuclear power plant, and after completion of the repair, the station gained access to the external power grid, as reported by the IAEA press service.
