Teenager appears in court over death of Glasgow man
Court papers say Luis Cameron punched Daniel Colrain, leaving the 21-year-old unconscious, before trying to leave Scotland for Dubai, prosecutors said.
Former Partick Thistle youth player Luis Cameron appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday charged with culpable homicide; Sheriff Helen McGinty granted bail to the 19-year-old, who was committed for further examination.
Early Sunday, October 4, prosecutors allege Cameron punched Daniel Colrain, 21, in Glasgow's Royal Exchange Square, rendering him unconscious; Colrain, a former employee at The Smiddy Bar, died in hospital the following day.
Cameron allegedly attempted to flee to Dubai, booking a flight and visiting the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley to fabricate a hand injury before traveling to Glasgow Airport in an attempt to avoid capture.
Before joining United Arab Emirates team Arabian Falcons in July, Cameron played for Partick Thistle and Drumchapel United; Colrain was a 'beloved presence in the community' at The Smiddy, where staff are raising funds for his family.
Specialist officers are supporting Colrain's family following his death; Cameron, represented by lawyer Paul Sweeney, will appear in court again at a later date to face the culpable homicide charge.
