Two Teens Carrying Homemade Guns Arrested on City Bus
Police seized three loaded homemade firearms, ammunition and bear spray after a report that one youth waved a gun on the bus.
On Tuesday, Regina Police Service officers apprehended three youths on a transit bus near Park Street and Victoria Avenue after reports of a firearm being waved. Two teenage boys now face multiple firearm charges.
During a search, officers seized three loaded homemade firearms, ammunition, and bear spray. Police reported one youth was observed waving a firearm inside the bus.
A 14-year-old and a 15-year-old male are each facing six firearm charges, while the 11-year-old child involved is too young to be charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both charged youths made their first appearance at Regina Provincial Youth Court on Wednesday. They remain in custody following the transit bus incident.
The teens are jointly charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, and 3 counts of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition.
