Man critically injured in shooting in Maple Ridge, B.C.

RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the case as police seek witnesses and dashcam footage after the overnight shooting.

  • On Tuesday night, a 56-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting in the Cottonwood neighborhood of Maple Ridge. Maple Ridge RCMP responded to reports of gunfire on 236 Street around 10 p.m.
  • Officers discovered the victim inside a parked Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV outside a residence. Pictures from the scene revealed visible damage to the driver's side window that appeared to be caused by gunfire.
  • Emergency Health Services deployed multiple ground and air resources to the scene and treated the victim before he was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.
  • The Serious Crime Unit has assumed command of the investigation, while the Integrated Forensic Identification Services is processing the scene as officers continue gathering evidence and canvassing for witnesses.
  • No suspect information or motive has been released as of Wednesday morning. The RCMP is asking anyone with dashcam footage or information about the incident to contact investigators.
