Wrong radio frequency by Cathay crew led to Nato jet interception: report

London-bound CX257 was intercepted by Hungarian fighter jets over Romania in early July after losing contact with civilian air traffic control.

In an investigation report released on Friday (August 14), the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department stated that Cathay Pacific crew members misheard instructions from air traffic controllers to another flight and tuned to the wrong radio band (frequency), causing the flight to briefly lose contact over Romania.
