Wilderness Canoe Base celebrates its founding in 1956 - Cook County News-Herald
After purchasing Fishhook Island on Seagull Lake from Eve and Russell Blankenberg, Pastor Ham Muus and Pastor Bob Evans founded Wilderness Canoe Base (WCB) in 1956 on the Gunflint Trail. They sought to create a safe and affirming faith community for inner city teens, where all were treated with dignity, compassion and love.
