Presidential Minister Marcin Przydacz stated in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24 that the implementation of the government proposal could translate into higher prices at the stations. In his opinion, the law on the tax on extraordinary profits of fuel companies "has the character of unconstitutionality."
Left-wing politicians on Wednesday called on President Karol Nawrocki to sign a law imposing a tax on windfall profits of fuel companies. According to the government, the levy will finance the "Lower Fuel Prices" program and lower prices at the pump.
Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty lashed out at the president on TVN24, blaming him for part of the blame for high gasoline prices. He appealed to Karol Nawrocki to sign the government's fuel prices bill and warned of the consequences of refusing to do so. He also announced that the parliamentary majority was changing its approach to lawmaking and no longer intended to withdraw bills that could be vetoed by the president.
