During the vote in the United Nations on the adoption of a new map of the world that more accurately shows the size of Africa, Serbia was among the six countries that abstained.
The United Nations has adopted a resolution calling for the world to gradually abandon the traditional Mercator map of the world and replace it with one that more accurately reflects the true size of Africa. The resolution was voted in favor by 164 countries, with only the United States voting against, whose representative called it "superfluous." Six countries abstained.
