The authorities have carried out a wave of arrests in several Turkish cities since Sunday, and more than 80 people have been held in pre-trial detention.
In the "My Family is Safe" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a significant step has been taken regarding obscene content on social media and the internet. Following investigations, access to 419 social media accounts and links found to contain obscene content has been blocked.
Journalists, including İrfan Değirmenci and Şirin Payzın, and the X accounts belonging to news websites and institutions have been blocked.
In Istanbul, as part of the "My Family is Safe" investigation aimed at protecting families, children, and young people from abuse, access was blocked to 419 social media accounts found to have shared obscene content, as well as to one link deemed to contain obscene content. Of the 34 suspects detained in connection with the investigation, 20 were arrested.
