The Norwegian government gave the green light to a mining company to store waste in a beautiful fjord, despite a ban from the country's highest court.

The Norwegian government has granted Nordic Mining permission to dump waste into the Førde Fjord, one of the country's most pristine fjords, despite years of campaigning by activists and a Supreme Court ruling against the move. Titanium mining at the Engebø mine, located near the fjord near Vevring, has been ongoing since 2024, and the government insists that its permission is legal.
