Once covering more than 40 hectares, today only small patches of ice remain of the Triglav Glacier. Researchers from the Anton Melik Geographical Institute estimate that it could disappear in the coming days due to unusually high October temperatures.
Due to climate change, the glacier on the northern side of the Triglav mountain peak will be permanently destroyed in the coming days. With the melting of the ice field, which has been continuously documented for nearly eight decades, Slovenia has lost part of the Julian Alps and its national symbol, Időkép wrote.
