The bridge that time forgot: Gubacsi gets its long-overdue makeover
The construction contract for the new bridge structure of the Gubacsi Bridge and the connecting track network has been signed, allowing the reconstruction of the bridge to begin — the Minister of Transport and Investment announced on Monday on his Facebook page.
HE-DO, a construction company close to NER, won the tender. According to Vitézy, it was a real price competition.
Since 2014, the speed limit on the bridge has been only 5 kilometers per hour, even though it is one of Hungary's most important freight rail connections, where 10-15 percent of the country's total rail freight traffic passes.
The winning company has previously worked with László Szijj's group, Duna Aszfalt, on several projects, but they are also responsible for creating the musical road that plays "Nélküledet".
