In the middle of the war, Ukraine is pushing forward the establishment of a national hero memorial. President Selenskyi is putting into effect a law. However, the project is causing considerable displeasure to the important ally of Poland.
Against the background of a history dispute with Poland, the Ukrainian president signed the law establishing a national hero memorial.
Ukraine is to establish a National Pantheon—a place where its heroes will be commemorated. Those who "inspire Ukrainians today to be strong," as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. The law he signed allows for the placement there of UPA commanders, among others.
The Act states that the Pantheon is subject to State ownership and is not subject to privatization or lease.
