Responding to questions about inflation targets at the meeting where the Medium-Term Program (MTP) covering the period 2027-2029 was announced, Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan explained the reasons for the upward revision in the forecasts. Karahan stated that the impact of the war on inflation this year approached 7 percentage points.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, while announcing the new Medium-Term Program, stated that the direct and indirect impact of the war on inflation in Türkiye is estimated at approximately 7 percentage points. Noting that the war conditions created supply-side pressure, Yılmaz announced that the energy import expectation has been increased from $63 billion to $71 billion.
