Sensex, Nifty Open Lower as Foreign Outflows Weigh on Investor Sentiment

- Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty drifted lower on Thursday as relentless foreign fund outflows weighed on investor sentiment, though cooling crude oil prices cushioned the fall.
- Chief Investment Strategist Vijayakumar of Geojit Investments Limited noted intense FII selling over the last two sessions, warning that "FIIs may continue to sell" as 10-year bond yields rose to 5.3%.
- The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 0.42%, while the BSE Sensex dropped 0.07%, with major laggards including Mahindra, Maruti, UltraTech Cement, Bharat Electronics, Eternal, and Asian Paints.
- Brent, the global oil benchmark, traded 0.92% lower, easing below the USD 100 mark, which Hariselvan Radhakrishnan, Founder & CEO of HST Wealth, said offers relief amid recent price surges.
- Asian markets including South Korea's KOSPI and Japan's Nikkei quoted higher, even as the domestic market remains under pressure following the Nifty's steepest monthly fall recently.
