Fundamental rights such as inviolability of the home, freedom of transit, freedom of assembly and personal security are suspended, and police interventions and detentions without a court order are authorized.
Interior Minister César Astudillo explained that the measure will strengthen security actions and expand the support of the Armed Forces to the NPP.
The measure seeks to confront the wave of violence and provides for restrictions on constitutional rights. The announcement occurs when the murders and armed attacks continue to occur in the capital and the constitutional province, with 105 counted since the swearing-in of the president.
Peru declared on Friday an emergency regime for 60 days in Lima and the port of Callao for the rise of crime and created a committee of officials that will coordinate the police, which will receive support from the military.
