SR-63 reopens near U.S. 280 in Alexander City following bridge replacement

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. — State Route 63 at U.S. 280 in Alexander City has officially reopened after a project to replace a bridge. According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, the road has been closed since May 2025 as crews replaced the original SR-63 bridge over Sugar Creek, a bridge built in 1931.
