The Colonel General died in prison, but peacefully and of old age, while tens of thousands of his victims did not.
Ratko Mladić died in custody in The Hague, where he was serving a life sentence for genocide and crimes against humanity. Despite this, part of the public did not meet the news with confrontation, but with heroization: "honorable soldier", "victim of rigged process", "last Serbian general". How is this psychologically possible, is the question that forced me to find an answer, especially since this is not the first time this has happened.
Ratko Mladić committed crimes also because of the mistaken belief that NATO was on the verge of collapse and that Russia was ready to help him. Sound familiar?
