The Druskininkai Chamber of the Alytus District Court found two people, A.J. and D.Č., guilty of smuggling and illegal disposal of excise goods while acting as part of an organized group.
A. J. and D. Č., who intercepted and hid smuggled cigarettes flown in balloons from Belarus, have been sentenced, the Prosecutor General's Office announced on Monday. The Druskininkai Chamber of the Alytus District Court found them guilty of smuggling and illegal disposal of excise goods while acting as part of an organized group.
In Lithuania, two citizens of the country were sentenced in January of last year to take smuggled cigarettes transferred from Belarus with the help of a meteorosonda. LRT reports that men were found guilty of smuggling and trafficking in goods subject to excises in an organized group, for which they received large fines of 10,000 euros and 9,000 euros. [...]
