In 1995, a wealthy man named Ljubomir Novak, who had returned to Croatia from Sweden, was murdered in Crikvenica. He is said to have died because he had become involved in a love affair. Five people were convicted of his murder. 51-year-old Ana Pečaver Lesić was also convicted of participating in one of the most high-profile murders in Croatia. After more than 20 years of life, her extradition to Croatia was allowed.

The US has extradited 51-year-old Ana Pečaver Lesić to Croatia, convicted of participating in the ordered murder of Ljubomir Novak near Crikvenica in 1995. She lived in the US for more than two decades, and attempts to extradite her to Croatia have been repeatedly rejected, the Rijeka portal Burin reported.
