New research found that sharks can detect tiny, low-frequency sounds from up to 74 meters, or 243 feet, away.
The sharks changed direction away from the sounds, including those originating nearly 250 feet away.
The findings provided quantified evidence that free-swimming sharks can detect and orient away from sounds in the acoustic far field.
