The European Commissioner for EU Enlargement Marta Kos believes that there should be “no place” in the EU for the “glorification” from Serbia surrounding the death of Bosnian Serb ex-general Ratko Mladić.
Marta Kos spoke to a few journalists about Ratko Mladic, the former military leader of the Bosnian Serbs, convicted of genocide and crimes against humanity, on the margins of the annual strategic forum in Bled, Slovenia.
The Belgrade decision to grant national funerals and military honours to Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide and crimes against humanity, provoked the anger of Brussels. The European Commissioner for Enlargement warned that the glorification of war criminals had "not its place" in a candidate country for the European Union.
