Nicole Schmitt Becomes First All-American Bulldog Since 2018 Season
DULUTH, Minn.- UMD infielder Nicole Schmitt has added perhaps the highest accolade in collegiate sports. Schmitt was named an NFCA All-American First team member Wednesday evening. She’s the first Bulldog to achieve All-American status since a trio did it back in the 2018 season. Schmitt is also the 8th player in program history to earn the title of All-American. A certain senior second baseman has a new moniker -- All-American Nicole Schmitt. The University of Minnesota Duluth softball's Nicole Schmitt was minted the newest title Wednesday when she was name to the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation All-American First Team. The Verona, Wis. native is the first Bulldog to be bestowed the citation since the 2018 trio of Hannah Schmoll, Becky Smith and Natalie Wright.
