Satlyt wants to be the Android of orbital computing, offering open software that works on many companies' satellites, versus SpaceX's closed, all-in-one iPhone-style approach.
Satlyt earned $8 million to develop software to run artificial intelligence on satellites from different manufacturers. The startup has already tested its technology in space missions and is now preparing a demonstration of shared computing between two ships.
