The president of the National Elections Jury (JNE), Roberto Burneo, confirmed that the plenary of the electoral body will debate whether the mayors elected in 2022 who now run as the first mayors will be able to receive the mayor's credentials again in case their respective lists win the Regional and Municipal Elections 2026.

The president of the JNE reported that the request submitted by 14 political organizations has already been communicated to the Presidency of the electoral body and will be incorporated into the agenda of the plenary.
