Reitmans reports second-quarter profit of $10.1M, down from $13.1 last year
Lower transaction volume and reduced clearance activity helped push net earnings to $10.1 million, while revenue slipped 2% to $211.8 million.
Reitmans Ltd. reported net earnings of $10.1 million for the second quarter, down from $13.1 million a year earlier.
The company attributed the decline to lower transaction volume during the period and reduced clearance activity compared to the prior year.
Net revenue fell two per cent year-over-year to $211.8 million from $215.9 million, while diluted earnings per share dropped to 20 cents from 26 cents.
Reitmans ended the quarter with $119.7 million in inventory, approximately five per cent lower than the previous year.
Trading on the TSX under symbol RET.A, the Montreal-based retailer operates 385 stores across Canada as of this reporting period.
