Cam Talbot stopped all three shootout attempts as Columbus outshot Pittsburgh 45-22 and earned its first win over the Penguins this season.
On Friday, Kent Johnson scored the only goal in a shootout to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets over the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 at Nationwide Arena.
Early goals from Damon Severson and Mathieu Olivier built a 2-0 lead, as the Blue Jackets dominated with a 45-22 shot advantage over Pittsburgh.
Behind goals from Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh tied the game 2-2, while Penguins goalie Sergei Murashov made 44 saves in regulation and overtime.
In his debut, goalie Cam Talbot stopped all three Pittsburgh shootout attempts and said, "I'm just glad that I could seal the win."
The Penguins host the Dallas Stars on Saturday, while the Blue Jackets travel to face the St. Louis Blues on the same day.
