- On Wednesday, Athletics prospect Ryan Lasko was discharged from Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, New Jersey, exactly two months after arriving to recover from a paralyzing spinal-cord injury sustained in an outfield collision.
- Lasko suffered the spinal-cord injury during a June 30 collision in Frisco, Texas, when he and Double-A Midland teammate Devin Taylor ran into each other attempting to make a play on a ball.
- Describing his recovery, Lasko said he has achieved "big wins" like opening a water bottle and checked many boxes toward independence, noting simple tasks he once took for granted are now manageable.
- He will initially return to Jackson, New Jersey, then live near Kessler for approximately two months while supported by his mother, Patti, and girlfriend Alli Graff during continued recovery.
- Focusing on the present, Lasko told The Associated Press he is learning patience, saying, "Reworking my brain to just wait, there's nothing else I can do now, I have to wait.
