Russia and Belarus are once again sending migrants into the EU – through tunnels dug along the border with the Baltics. “The border area is controlled by the Russian FSB. Nothing happens without their approval,” says Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur.
Migrants are trying to enter Europe by every possible means. The most remarkable: via underground routes. In recent years, several 'migrant tunnels' have been discovered running from Belarus towards neighboring countries. The Latvian police shut down two more of them in the past few days.
Another tunnel used by migrants has been found in Latvia.
Latvian authorities have uncovered another tunnel on their border that could have allowed illegal migrants to enter the Baltic country and thus the entire European Union from neighboring Belarus. The secret passage runs under the border fence near the village of Kaplava.
