NYSE and Blockchain.com to Explore Selling Tokenised Stocks

The agreement would give Blockchain.com users access to tokenized U.S. equities and ETFs while ICE Data Services distributes crypto market data to subscribers.

  • On Wednesday, the New York Stock Exchange and Blockchain.com signed a memorandum of understanding to explore offering tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to the platform's users through NYSE's digital alternative trading system.
  • Forecasts from the Citi Institute project a $5.5 trillion market for tokenized assets by 2030, positioning the deal as "a bet by both parties on where capital markets are heading," Blockchain.com said.
  • Peter Smith, Blockchain.com Executive Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder, emphasized expanding access, saying the platform reaches more than 44 million confirmed accounts across over 70 jurisdictions. NYSE Group President Lynn Martin called the partnership a "natural complement" to their services.
  • Wednesday's announcement arrives six days after the Securities and Exchange Commission granted a five-year exemption for onchain venues. Intercontinental Exchange, the NYSE parent, previously partnered with Securitize and OKX to build tokenization infrastructure.
  • The initiative seeks to offer users 24/7 trading and faster settlement compared to traditional equity markets, though the companies have not yet disclosed specific launch markets for the tokenized products.
