A project company owned by the Finnish energy group Fortum has applied for government support to build new nuclear reactors right next to the existing nuclear power plant in Oskarshamn.
The Swedish government wants to build thousands of megawatts of nuclear power with state support. In addition to Fortum, four other projects have applied for support, one of which is practically state-owned.
A nuclear power project could be as big as Olkiluoto.
A new Swedish nuclear power company owned by Fortum is applying for government support and risk sharing for new nuclear power in Sweden. The Finnish energy group says its ambition is to build up to 3,400 megawatts of new nuclear power on Ävrö adjacent to the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant. But many conditions still need to be met.
