Rocco Becht Shines with 4 TDs as No. 18 Penn State Beats Marshall 45-0
Rocco Becht threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns as Penn State held Marshall to 147 yards in a one-sided season opener.
On Saturday, Penn State University dominated the Marshall Thundering Herd 45-0 at Beaver Stadium, marking head coach Matt Campbell's successful debut in State College.
Quarterback Rocco Becht commanded the Nittany Lions offense in his debut, completing 13 of 18 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns while showing no ill effects from offseason shoulder surgery.
Sophomore Koby Howard recorded a breakout performance with six catches for 161 yards and a touchdown, while receivers Brett Eskildsen, Benjamin Brahmer and Zay Robinson also caught touchdown passes.
The defense stifled Marshall throughout the contest, holding the visitors to 147 total yards, including just 39 in the second half, while forcing seven punts and recording multiple sacks.
Penn State returns to action next Saturday with a noon kickoff against in-state rival Temple University at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
