As Pro Women's Sports Boom, Study Finds Red Flags in Pipeline
The report says 60% of girls ages 6 to 17 believe sports are for someone like them, but only 24% currently play organized sports.

High entry costs create particularly acute barriers for girls from lower-income households, with girls citing financial obstacles as a participation barrier disproportionately compared to boys.
Three-Time Olympic Track and Field champion Gabby Thomas, a Women's Sports Foundation Trustee, told USA Today, "I think the outside world is not incredibly supportive of womens sports," emphasizing family support's role in overcoming barriers.
Despite increased visibility for women's sports, industry experts identify policy gaps and weakened Title IX enforcement as primary obstacles to sustained progress in closing equity gaps.
