- On Sunday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency announced massive seizures at Murtala Muhammed International Airport , intercepting 47,200 Captagon pills and over 3.9 million opioid tablets worth more than N6.2 billion.
- Traffickers are increasingly using creative concealment methods, including hiding illicit drugs inside blocks of soap and fireproof iron safes, prompting NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa to urge officers to maintain operational pressure.
- In Ondo State, authorities recovered 728kg of skunk on Friday, August 28, while operations across Delta State between Wednesday, August 26, and Friday, August 28, yielded more than 176,000 opioid pills.
- Officers arrested cross-border kingpin Akinbile Kazeem Aikins on August 22, who claimed he was destined for the North, and separately detained US returnee Sowunmi David Oludotun in Lagos for importing Loud cannabis.
- Beyond enforcement, the NDLEA continued its nationwide War Against Drug Abuse sensitization campaigns this week, conducting enlightenment lectures for students and youths in Gombe State, Kano State, and Edo State.
