With two titles in big laps and three podiums in the Tour de France, Nairo Quintana hung the bike on Saturday at the Giro del Emilia. His career paved the way for a generation of Colombian runners and consolidated it as one of the landmarks of the high mountain.
Nairo Quintana rode his final race on Saturday afternoon in the Giro dell’Emilia after sixteen years of cycling. Before the race, the peloton paid a beautiful tribute to the 36-year-old Colombian.
The Colombian climber, one of the best in history, will run his last race with the Movistar Team on Saturday, October 3rd at the Giro de Emilia and will leave the professionalism with 53 victories, among them a Giro and a Vuelta in addition to three podiums in the Tour
The race started off with a good downhill pace and was won by Davide Piganzoli, a competitor from Hungary, with a 4,700-meter long attack.
