Norwegian cyclist Elias Dybing became the European champion in the youth road race in Šenčur. After 110.5 km, the 18-year-old held on to a few seconds of lead over Spaniard Aitor Martinez and Dutchman Jop van den Biggelaar. The Slovenians tried, attacked, but remained without a place in the top ten.
A pity for the Belgian juniors. They were present in large numbers in the race, but could not capitalize on it. Stan Van Hissenhoven (18) had a chance of winning a medal for a long time, but was stopped by a strong Elias Dybing who rode solo to the European title.
