Body of woman found in Liverpool park was inside a bin bag, police say

Detectives say the woman may have been in the bin bag for weeks as they appeal for witnesses and try to identify her.

  • On Friday, Merseyside Police launched a murder investigation after discovering a woman's body in a bin bag in Stanley Park, Liverpool, shortly before 17:30 BST.
  • Det Supt Rachel Wilson stated the body likely remained in the walled garden for a number of weeks. The victim, approximately 5ft 2in tall with strawberry blonde hair, wore a cerise pink Nike t-shirt.
  • A post-mortem examination occurred on Saturday, though results remain withheld for "investigation reasons." Police confirmed they checked missing persons reports in Merseyside and beyond but have yet to identify the woman.
  • Assistant Chief Constable Andy Ryan established a mobile police station in the park to support the ongoing murder investigation. Officers are patrolling the area and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
  • Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police via 101, quoting reference 26000706383, or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
