Police Cordon in Place After Woman's Body Discovered in Park
Police are examining CCTV and witness accounts while trying to identify the woman, whose cause of death remains unknown.
- On Friday, August 28, officers discovered a woman's body in Stanley Park, Liverpool, at approximately 5:25 pm after a member of the public made the discovery. Merseyside Police cordoned off the area and are treating the death as unexplained.
- The unidentified woman is described as white, aged in her 70s, approximately 5ft 2in tall, with strawberry blonde hair and small build. She was wearing a distinctive cerise pink Nike T-shirt when discovered.
- Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson stated officers are "doing everything in our powers to find the person or persons responsible" after examining missing person reports. Local residents called the incident "a terrible shock" to the community.
- A police cordon remains in place inside the park while forensic and witness enquiries continue. A mobile police station will be stationed nearby from tomorrow, Sunday, August 30, for residents with information or concerns.
