The Merwede Bridge closed to freight traffic? They really didn't know, say drivers who were stopped on the A27 on Monday. How is it possible that hundreds of trucks and coaches are still driving over the bridge, even though a ban has been in effect for a month?

A rain of fines on the Merwede Bridge. An estimated dozens of foreign drivers were caught red-handed on Monday morning driving across the ‘forbidden’ bridge near Gorinchem. A truck ban has been in effect there since mid-July, but it is being ignored en masse, particularly by foreign truckers.
