One Person Dead, Seven Injured in Shooting at Taunton House Party
Police said several victims were taken to area hospitals and no arrests have been announced as Massachusetts State Police assist the investigation.
- On Sunday, a shooting at a Taunton house party on Weir Street near Sumner Street left one person dead and seven others wounded, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn. The gunfire erupted around 12:35 a.m.
- Investigators identified the eight victims, all in their early 20s, after gunfire broke out during a large gathering in the yard. Zirovick Depina, 22, of Brockton, was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
- Seven surviving victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One individual remains in "serious but stable condition," while the remaining six suffered injuries deemed "non-life-threatening," the Bristol County District Attorney reported.
- Despite an active homicide investigation led by Taunton Police Detectives and Massachusetts State Police, no arrests have been announced. Anyone with information should contact the Taunton Police Department.
- The Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section continues to assist local investigators with the ongoing case. The Bristol County District Attorney stated "no further information" was available as of Sunday afternoon.
