- On Tuesday, Aug. 4, Lake Country RCMP officers seized over one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop on Highway 97 near Oceola Road.
- During the search, officers discovered the drugs packaged in multiple bags alongside 'several hundred pills' identified as suspected Xanax and Dilaudid.
- Police determined the quantity and packaging were consistent with drug trafficking activity, prompting an ongoing investigation by the RCMP.
- Although three of the four vehicle occupants were arrested for possession of a controlled substance, all four were released at the roadside pending potential court appearances.
- Staff Sgt. Jon Collins, detachment commander of the Lake Country RCMP, warned that every illicit pill represents a 'potentially serious health risk' to the community.
