The government established Norway's largest protected area in September to protect a rich diversity of coral reefs, fish, whales and seabirds. The marine area covers 1,848.5 square kilometers in the municipalities of Andøy, Harstad and Senja. This is equivalent to almost 260,000 football pitches.
